heartsore
This is the painting that is hanging at
The Artery at Pink Dog Creative in the River Arts District 342 Depot Street Asheville NC 28801 | |
I painted the nesting dolls to add a dimensional element to the whole installation.
The whole series is called "Heartsore".
It is about a girl who gives her legs to her lover. He leaves her pregnant. She teaches the child to walk and gets left behind again.

new growth....
I am participating in a group art show with some of my very favorite artists. We just installed today and it looks so amazing! Check out the lineup! the name of the show is "new growth" and the pieces are surprisingly spring like. It looks great.
I have been in a place where I am loving creating stories with my paintings. For this show I made a zine to go with the painting. It is a story in pictures that describe the image on the canvas. Each zine is hand colored and signed, they are only $10 each people! I also made a 3 dimensional piece to go with it....It is a surprise! I will post pics later, but for now you have to go to the upcoming show to see it.
Here are a couple sample images from the zine, these are the black and white images before they were touched up with color.
come to the show!

Immersion.....
Immersion: a group show featuring the work of Ursula Gullow, Spencer Herr, Alli Good, Angela Eastman and Katie Brooks
In this group exhibition, five local artists contemplate the theme of immersion. For sculptor, Katie Brooks, immersion evokes the feelings from childhood that she experienced in nature, surrounded by cattails at a nearby pond. For painter, Spencer Herr, immersion is conveyed literally as he explores how his own thoughts and experiences flood his work. Within the framework of the theme of immersion these artists are given the opportunity to experiment and communicate through their work.
I am really excited about this show....
these are images of the story I sketched out to go with the paintings that will be in the show....I will post images of the paintings soon. I think that this show is going to be pretty great so everyone should go.

a perfect conception- the beginning
the post after this one shows the beginning of a story I'm working on that will be turned into a zine. It is a long personal project I've been working on for about two years, it's taken the back burner for a while but I love the story. It is a story about twin sisters that fall in love with each other and conceive children together. The following pictures are the beginning of the story, their birth and their growth and their growing love for each other leading to their pregnancy...........check it out and let me know what you think.
